The power to Plan a better future ....

We have the power to plan a better future !! Our choices today determine our future. What choices do we make to ensure a better future?

My Dear Gurudev, Sri Sri Pran Krishna das babaji maharaj gave us this instruction once. Gurudev said, “Everyone needs some instructor through out their life. Whether in school or in college or at home from our parents. This is the school of bhakti. One should take shelter of guru and at least get enrolled this time around in this very birth. Learning can come slowly. Even in our school or college if we don’t enroll we cannot get a certificate or diploma. Taking mantra diksha, or initiation is enrolling in the school of Bhakti “. That is the step we need to take to have a better future. Which future? Our eternal future. The souls future. We have the power to make that choice.

Gurudev has appeared here in this world to take us back to Lord Sri Krishna. He is sent by Krishna as his causeless mercy upon the fallen souls to remind them of the Lord and His eternal abode. We must take immediate action to surrender to Guru. Life is unpredictable and precarious. At moment any thing can happen.

Srimad Bhagavatam says,

samāśritā ye pada-pallava-plavaṁ
 mahat-padaṁ puṇya-yaśo murāreḥ
bhavāmbudhir vatsa-padaṁ paraṁ padaṁ
 padaṁ padaṁ yad vipadāṁ na teṣām

For those who have accepted the boat of the lotus feet of the Lord, who is the shelter of the cosmic manifestation and is famous as Murāri, the enemy of the Mura demon, the ocean of the material world is like the water contained in a calf’s hoof-print. Their goal is paraṁ padam, Vaikuṇṭha, the place where there are no material miseries, not the place where there is danger at every step.

Padam padam yad vapitam means at every step there is danger. Without the mercy of Sri Guru and Sri Krishna we are nothing. We cannot be saved from the pangs of material miseries. While Gurudev is here appearing in his earthly pastimes we must surrender immediately. Surrendering means taking shelter at His lotus feet by taking Mantra initiation (diksha). Once His earthly pastimes are over our chance is gone. We will dwindle back in the 84 lacs of species before getting a human birth again for another chance to plan for a better future.
