Loving is…Chanting with Love

The following is verse number 2 from the Sri Siksastakam by Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu

namnam akari bahudha nija-sarva-shaktis
tatrarpita niyamitah smarane na kalah
etadrishi tava kripa bhagavan mamapi
durdaivam idrisham ihajani nanuragaha

O my Lord, Your holy name alone can render all benediction to living beings, and thus You have hundreds and millions of names, like Krsna and Govinda. In these transcendental names You have invested all Your transcendental energies. There are not even hard and fast rules for chanting these names. O my Lord, out of kindness You enable us to easily approach You by Your holy names, but I am so unfortunate that I have no attraction for them.

In our spiritual quest, if we could just chant the holy names with love we would receive the utmost mercy from Sri Nityananda and Sri Gauranga. The above sloka says that there are no hard and fast rules to chant the Mahamantra but still we have no attraction to the holy names. The Lord has invested all His transcendental energies into the holy names. The main limb of practice on a devotional path is to chant the holy names of the Lord as given by our sweet Kaliyuga incarnations, Sri Sri Dayal Nitai Gauranga!! Yet we have no interest in it. The holy names can give everything if we chant with love and without offenses. Nitai has many forms. Sri Gurudev has come as Nitai in front of us to guide us lovingly and take us by the hand.

Sri Gurudev is the supreme example of such love for the holy names. All glories to Sri Gurudev!!
