Daily Surrender - Sri Krishnaaya Samarpayami
Srila Prabhupad Prem Gopal Goswami mentioned in one of his lectures recently that daily, at the end of each day, we should chant “Sri Krishnaaya Samarpayami”, meaning “Oh Krishna!! I surrender all of today’s activities to You”. By offering everything, every action to Krishna, we can remember that we are always connected with Him. Our attachment to the material world is very tight right now. As we go about our day we never once think of Krishna as far as surrendering our particular actions to Him. We can see in Bhagavad Gita Krishna says
Bg. 9.27
yat karoṣi yad aśnāsi
yaj juhoṣi dadāsi yat
yat tapasyasi kaunteya
tat kuruṣva mad-arpaṇam
Whatever you do, whatever you eat, whatever you offer or give away, and whatever austerities you perform – do that, O son of Kuntī, as an offering to Me. Source
So if we can remember Krishna like this in all of our actions then this attachment to the material world will loosen. Everything belongs to Krishna and nothing really belongs to us. We are living here on borrowed resources so we should offer everything to Krishna. We only remember Him in times of trouble and we blame God. At that time we remember that we are connected to God. Slowly by surrendering daily, little by little, we can cut the root of this samsara tree (material tree). Who can cut this attachment?
Bg. 15.5
nirmāna-mohā jita-saṅga-doṣā
adhyātma-nityā vinivṛtta-kāmāḥ
dvandvair vimuktāḥ sukha-duḥkha-saṁjñair
gacchanty amūḍhāḥ padam avyayaṁ tat
Those who are free from false prestige, illusion and false association, who understand the eternal, who are done with material lust, who are freed from the dualities of happiness and distress, and who, unbewildered, know how to surrender unto the Supreme Person attain to that eternal kingdom. Source
Our daily surrender will lead us to have equal vision to all things. The dualities of this world will not affect us anymore. That person can get detachment by the mercy of Sri Krishna. They then become very dear to the Lord. No fear, no attachment. So what is the result of all this?
Bg. 12.6-7
ye tu sarvāṇi karmāṇi
mayi sannyasya mat-parāḥ
ananyenaiva yogena
māṁ dhyāyanta upāsate
teṣām ahaṁ samuddhartā
mṛtyu-saṁsāra-sāgarāt
bhavāmi na cirāt pārtha
mayy āveśita-cetasām
But those who worship Me, giving up all their activities unto Me and being devoted to Me without deviation, engaged in devotional service and always meditating upon Me, having fixed their minds upon Me, O son of Pṛthā – for them I am the swift deliverer from the ocean of birth and death. Source
Krishna mercifully delivers us from this material world of birth and death. So lets make it a habit, every night in bed!!
