Krishna says...Who is my Fan?

When I started writing this blog post and posting my kirtan tunes on Soundcloud this realization came to me that I don’t want any fans or following. I want people who I can share with. It was rather funny, but as I pondered on this thought I understood that a fan really is a person who fans my ego, gives me wind so my ego can get puffed up. That’s not what I want from all these blogs and kirtan tunes.

There are so many people writing, posting, and sharing things these days. Everywhere you turn to, a new podcast, new blog post. So much content, so much information for the information generation. But is it really meaningful information? Is this information fanning our EGO or is it making you a fan of the Supreme controller? Is this removing your false covering of the EGO? Is it bringing you closer to the actual self, the true EGO of who you really are? Is all this information bringing you closer to understanding your eternal self or dragging you further into Maya, the illusory energy of the Lord? I feel I should give it to you straight and give it to you clearly.

The goal is to lovingly serve the Lord, eternally!!

So in simple words let’s just try to define what it is that we are talking about. We have a false ego and a true ego. When the false ego is prominent in our life we think we are the doer of everything, we think we are the center of the universe and everything and everyone must revolve around us. We don’t realize what our actual position is, here as an infinitesimal soul who is part of the bigger whole, Lord Sri Krishna. We are eternally connected to and apart of Him. We are eternal servants of that Supreme Lord. That is the true EGO. Instead we live our lives in the illusion as a servant of Maya. Why is it so hard to understand this? Because the word servant doesn’t appeal to us? Yes probably so. We are used to being the boss of our tiny little world. Once we understand our minuscule position in this creation we can start to understand our true EGO, our real position. Think about it….I am Krishna Dasi in Los Angeles, in California which is in this country, the USA, in North America which is part of this world called Earth, this planet. And this planet is part of this galaxy. There are many millions of galaxies that exist in our Universe and Our scriptures like the Bhagavad Gita tell us that there are many millions of Universes. So why are we so puffed up about our position as Krishna Dasi? We cannot survive a moment without the intervention of the higher power whether one is a spiritualist or atheist. Each day we need sunshine, air, and water to survive among many other things. It’s humbling to actually know our position and to surrender to the fact that there is a higher power taking care of us. It’s comforting, to say the least.

So where were we? The true EGO then, is understanding our real position. Become a fan of the “Eternal life fan club”. This eternal life of the soul is living as an eternal servant of Lord Sri Krishna right here, right now. Krishna is waiting for us. I am an eternal servant of Krishna!! These blog posts and Kirtan tunes are for the pleasure of the Lord and truly speaking for my own purification. My prayer and desire is that by reading these posts and hearing the kirtan and katha (pastimes about the Lord) you may release your false EGO, realize your true EGO, and also bless me to eternally serve the Lord.
