Controlling the Mind
Only if I had this , only if I had that …..only if I had love for Krishna then…..I could serve Him.
We go through our day wanting this and that, I wish I had a big house, I wish I had a big car, I wish I was thinner, I wish I was fatter , prettier etc etc which may sound very trivial material things but we are setting ourselves for our next birth. Even if those things are spiritual things for example I wish I knew how to sing well for Krishna, I wish I knew Sanskrit so I could recite slokas, I wish I had a good memory so I could recite verses when I discuss Krishna consciousness with others and on and on and on. In the here and now be happy with what you have and love Krishna . Use what you have for Krishna’s service. Ignore everything else as time is passing us by. The mind is made of sattva, the mode of goodness, but intelligence is made of Rajas the mode of passion. So when the mind is over taken by the intelligence, as it is superior it keeps us in the past or the future, either repenting or wanting something more. We get passionate to do this or that. The mind’s job is to protect the false ego by presenting us various things of attachment or detachment. So ignoring the mind is the best way of controlling it.
Chant and Be happy !!
